Audiologist
A speech and language therapist (audiologist) is a certified healthcare professional who specializes in the assessment, diagnosis, therapy, and rehabilitation of speech, language, phonation (voice production), swallowing, and communication disorders. These disorders may have various origins – either congenital or acquired over the course of life, for example, as a result of illness or injury.
At the Dr. Feders Center, our speech and language therapist provides professional support to both adults and children from the age of 5. The primary goal of our specialist’s work is to improve the patient’s ability to communicate, restore or develop speech and language functions, and address voice and swallowing disorders—significantly enhancing overall quality of life.
Services provided by the speech and language therapist include:
- Assessment of speech, language, and communication skills;
- Habilitation when communication abilities have not developed appropriately for age;
- Rehabilitation when speech, language, or swallowing abilities have been partially or fully lost;
- Diagnosis and therapy of swallowing disorders;
- Auditory evaluation of voice quality, diagnosis and treatment of voice disorders;
- Voice ergonomics and hygiene recommendations, especially for professional voice users (e.g., teachers, public speakers, singers, etc.).
Preparation of Medical Reports
Upon prior agreement, the speech and language therapist can prepare a detailed report on the patient’s speech, language, and communication skills, for example, to be submitted to educational institutions, treating specialists, or social services. Preparing such a report typically requires 1–2 sessions.
Duration of appointment: 40 minutes.
