Occupational therapist

The goal of occupational therapy is to promote an individual’s health and independence in daily activities, including self-care, mobility, productivity, and leisure. Occupational therapy sessions involve patient assessment, treatment, and collaboration with the patient, their family, and caregivers.

An occupational therapist works with patients of all age groups, from infants and preschool or school-aged children to adolescents, young adults, working-age individuals, and seniors.

We accept patients with a variety of conditions, including stroke, hand injuries, burns, peripheral nerve damage, fractures, polytrauma, head injuries, rheumatological and neurological disorders, and others.

When working with children, the occupational therapist assesses the child’s ability to perform daily tasks, physical skills, communication and cognitive abilities, and gathers information about the child’s physical environment and other factors that may impact their participation in everyday activities. If needed, the therapist assists in selecting appropriate equipment to promote the child’s independence, such as wheelchairs, orthoses, positioning aids, and more.

Our Center’s occupational therapist has extensive experience working with children with cerebral palsy.

Occupational therapy sessions include:

  • Hand therapy – improving fine motor skills and finger dexterity, increasing joint range of motion, enhancing muscle strength, promoting bilateral movements, reducing spasticity and swelling, and preventing deformities and contractures;
  • Adaptation, facilitation, and maintenance of daily activities;
  • Consultations on basic ergonomic principles, joint protection strategies, and energy conservation techniques in everyday activities;
  • Cognitive function enhancement;
  • Selection of assistive devices to support performance in daily tasks.
