Gynecological ultrasound

Gynecological ultrasound is a safe, painless, and highly accurate diagnostic method that allows detailed evaluation of a woman’s reproductive system health. During the examination, high-resolution ultrasound imaging is used to visualize the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and surrounding tissues, providing valuable information about their structure and function.

Depending on the situation and indications, gynecological ultrasound can be performed:

  • Transabdominally – through the anterior abdominal wall using ultrasound gel;
  • Transvaginally – with a special probe that provides even more precise imaging of the organs.

The examination lasts 10-20 minutes and does not require any special prior preparation. After the scan, the doctor immediately provides a detailed explanation of the results and prepares a medical report.

Gynecological ultrasound is recommended for regular preventive check-ups of a woman’s reproductive health, helping to assess the condition of the uterus, ovaries, and other pelvic organs. The examination is especially important in cases of menstrual cycle disturbances, irregular, painful, or heavy menstruation, as well as unexplained intermenstrual bleeding. It is also performed when there is pain or discomfort in the lower pelvis to identify possible causes related to changes in the ovaries, uterus, or other structures.

Ultrasound is essential for early pregnancy diagnosis and monitoring, allowing evaluation of its progress and fetal development. It also helps detect ovarian cysts, fibroids, and other formations, as well as monitor their changes over time. The examination is frequently used in infertility diagnostics to analyze the structure of the uterus and ovaries and identify any anatomical features that may affect fertility. After gynecological surgeries or specific treatments, ultrasound allows assessment of recovery and therapy effectiveness.

Timely ultrasonography ensures comprehensive health monitoring for women and promotes early detection of changes, which is crucial for successful treatment and prevention.
